Choose the ordinary encounter
The regular Piranha entry uses the Fishing Rod with a Beginner Lure on Forest Island. This is the broad early fish pool, alongside entries such as Cod, Perch and Goldfish.
Giant Piranha is a different creature and a story boss. Its Leech Bait quest does not replace the Beginner Lure setup when your missing entry is simply named Piranha.
Treat this as a collection stop
The ordinary Piranha has a recorded base of 4 coins. Cod is listed at 10 and Goldfish at 24, so the name alone is not a reason to prioritize Piranha for raw sale value.
If you are planning the Forest route, record the ordinary species when it appears, then check the separate leech objective for story progress. Killing the smaller namesake does not constitute the Giant Piranha encounter.
