Keep the Forest setup simple
Use the Fishing Rod’s default pool on Forest Island for the recorded Gar pairing. No purchased lure is listed for this species in the reviewed table.
Mackerel and Pike share the default-pool route. If you are short of money, check which of these entries are missing before buying a lure for the broader Beginner list.
Name and variant are separate checks
The 5-coin figure is Gar’s ordinary raw base reference. It should not be read as a guaranteed payout for every variant or every way of finishing a catch.
After recording Gar, use the Fishipedia and the Drip guide to track variant progress separately. Finding the ordinary species answers the location question, but does not by itself establish a rare-variant completion.
