Finish the beer exchange before preparing the cast
Give the Lighthouse Keeper the requested Beer and retain the Empty Beer Can. That can is the Spider Crab trigger used with the Crab Fishing Rod. Treat it as part of the opening quest inventory until the encounter begins.
Brown Crab and Rock Crab are ordinary catches in this area. Catching more of them can fund supplies, but it does not replace the special trigger or the keeper’s boss objective.
Spend for one reliable fight
Use an early weapon you can handle consistently and leave enough money for its ammunition. Bring food and make room for the shell. You do not need to turn the first boss into a high-score attempt while you are still learning the movement.
- Move loose objects out of your intended retreat path.
- Keep the trigger item until the weapon and supplies are ready.
- In co-op, agree who will carry the quest result back.
Move across the rush, then take the opening
Watch the direction of the crab’s approach. Move sideways out of that line, turn back for damage during the recovery and create space before repeating. Running straight away in the same line gives you fewer options than crossing its path.
If you find yourself trading hits at close range, reset your position. Surviving another cycle is more useful than emptying a weapon while pinned against clutter. This is positioning advice, not a timed or damage-tested strategy.
The useful reward is the hand-in
Recover the shell and return to the keeper before selling or sorting the rest of your catch. Complete the boat-key exchange, then separately check that you have the Radar and supplies for the crossing.
The official opening achievement describes both dealing with the culprit and returning it to the keeper. Follow the whole objective instead of assuming the combat finish also completes every dialogue step.
