Base equipment prices, damage and catch pools: Patch 1.0.10 reference. These figures are not a new playtest of the latest release.

Where the SMG / Uzi fits

The SMG, also listed as the Uzi, is a Desert-stage rapid-fire option with a recorded base damage of 24 per shot. Its practical appeal is quick follow-up fire against a moving target. The choice makes sense when correcting a missed shot quickly matters more to you than one large hit.

Prepare the purchase and the encounter

Check the current shop price before committing: the reviewed catalog does not record a stable price for this weapon. Reserve the cost of the fishing or boss-bait objective as well as enough supplies to complete it.

For Blue Shark, the dedicated Standard Boss Lure costs $280. For the story route, keep an eligible fish for the Tourist’s Carrot trade. Buying a firearm does not remove either prerequisite.

Make the weapon work for the trip

Track the target from a position with room to move, and stop firing when the line of sight is lost. Rapid follow-up shots are useful for correction, but continuing through an obstruction simply spends supplies.

Use ordinary Desert catches to settle on a comfortable aiming distance before committing to a paid encounter. That practice can reveal whether the weapon helps your control or only encourages firing faster.

Compare the complete setup

The 24-damage reference is per shot before upgrades. It should not be treated as a tested damage-per-second result or used alone to rank this weapon against the Pistol or Shotgun.

If close-range positioning is the main difficulty, evaluate the space available for dodging as well as weapon choice. A new purchase cannot compensate for landing a dangerous target in an area where the crew cannot move.

Store equipment deliberately

Patch 1.0.10 introduced saving for up to 64 ground items, with equipment, quest items and creatures among the priorities. It also added cleaning for cooked weapons and tools by dipping them in water. Treat ground storage as limited, and keep track of important equipment before ending a session.
