Standard Boss Lure: catches, cost and trip planning

When to choose the Standard Boss Lure

The Standard Boss Lure costs $280 and targets Blue Shark on the Desert route. Its practical reward is access to the Grillmaster hand-in and cooking, as well as a boss collection entry. It is a separate purchase from the Carrot used for the island’s story boss.

Recorded catch pool

Base values describe the creature before sale modifiers. This list identifies possible catches; it does not specify their probabilities.

Plan the fishing trip

Budget for the fight before buying the lure. Have a weapon, ammunition and a place to move once the shark is landed. A dedicated encounter purchase is best made after those basics are covered.

If the Grillmaster objective is unfinished, keep the defeated shark for the hand-in. Do not let an automatic sell-everything routine dispose of the object that the NPC needs.

Keep the next objective in view

Blue Shark also appears in the Standard Lure reference pool. The regular lure spreads its outcomes across several creatures; this page covers the boss-focused purchase. The catalog does not establish encounter odds for either option.

Cooking is useful preparation for later fights, but the Desert island unlock follows Pufferfish and its fin. Complete the Tourist’s trade for a Carrot when that is the next story task.

Check a known creature in Fishipedia

Patch 1.1.3 added a bait-name hint to Fishipedia after you have defeated a creature once. Use that hint when revisiting a known catch, especially if your installed version includes content beyond this reference pool.
