When to choose the Standard Lure
The Standard Lure moves the regular fishing budget to $15 per purchase on Desert Island. Its value is not just the sale price of a catch: this pool also contains the Needlefish and Seahorse used for the Tourist trade, which leads to the Carrot and the Pufferfish story fight.
Recorded catch pool
Base values describe the creature before sale modifiers. This list identifies possible catches; it does not specify their probabilities.
| Creature | Base value | Encounter |
|---|---|---|
| Angelfish | $62 | Regular catch |
| Yellow Boxfish | $53 | Regular catch |
| Catfish | $46 | Regular catch |
| Sea Urchin | $52 | Regular catch |
| Seahorse | $100 | Regular catch |
| Clownfish | $46 | Regular catch |
| Bluegill | $62 | Regular catch |
| Bowlfish | Not recorded | Regular catch |
| Needlefish | $60 | Regular catch |
| Blue Shark | $300 | Boss encounter |
Plan the fishing trip
Speak to the Tourist before deciding which catches to sell. Keep a Needlefish or Seahorse aside if the Carrot objective is still open; a routine sale can otherwise send you back to the water to repeat the same collection step.
Separate the trip into a quest target and an income target. Catch until you have the trade candidate, secure it, then decide whether another round of fishing is worth the lure and ammunition budget. This keeps optional earning from delaying the next island unlock.
Keep the next objective in view
Blue Shark is recorded in both the regular and boss pools. The $280 Standard Boss Lure is the dedicated option for the shark encounter, while the regular lure also produces many smaller catches. Neither price should be read as a promised profit per cast.
The lure itself does not summon Pufferfish. Make the endangered-creature trade, obtain the Carrot and prepare for the story boss separately.
Check a known creature in Fishipedia
Patch 1.1.3 added a bait-name hint to Fishipedia after you have defeated a creature once. Use that hint when revisiting a known catch, especially if your installed version includes content beyond this reference pool.
