Keep a fish for the Tourist
The Tourist under the tree exchanges an eligible endangered creature for the Carrot. Needlefish and Seahorse are the recorded choices in this route. Both appear in the Standard Lure pool, so speak to the Tourist before deciding what to sell from a fishing trip.
Reserve the trade candidate as soon as it is caught. One designated quest object is easier to track than a pile of bodies that the crew is treating as general sale stock.
Prepare the Carrot encounter
The Carrot starts Pufferfish, the Desert story boss. Use it with the Fishing Rod only after weapons and recovery supplies are ready. A Standard Boss Lure serves Blue Shark instead, so check the bait when working on the island unlock.
Give yourself room for broad sideways movement and use the terrain deliberately. Chasing directly after the boss through its charge cycle makes it harder to preserve the space needed for the next dodge.
Protect the fin after the fight
Collect Pufferfish’s fin and complete the story hand-in to reveal Rocks Island. The Carrot solves the encounter trigger; the fin solves the island unlock. Finishing the fight without returning the required item leaves the route incomplete.
Blue Shark and the Grillmaster are a separate Desert objective that unlocks cooking. It is useful preparation for future fights, but it should not be confused with the Tourist–Carrot–Pufferfish chain.
