Scientific Boss Lure: catches, cost and trip planning

When to choose the Scientific Boss Lure

The Scientific Boss Lure is a $5,800 optional purchase for Goblin Shark at the Volcano stage. It belongs on a collection checklist, not on the mandatory whale-bait shopping list. That distinction matters when the final weapon and healing budget is still incomplete.

Recorded catch pool

Base values describe the creature before sale modifiers. This list identifies possible catches; it does not specify their probabilities.

Plan the fishing trip

Check whether Goblin Shark is actually missing from your creature record before committing the money. If the immediate objective is finishing the game, complete the Scientist’s five-fish request and prepare the whale chain first.

Treat the lure price as only one part of the encounter cost. Stage weapons, ammunition and recovery supplies while you still have room in the budget, then start the catch with the arena and inventory prepared.

Keep the next objective in view

Regular Scientific Lures cost $500 and serve a different pool. Repeating those casts is useful for the listed regular species, but Goblin Shark is assigned to the boss lure in this reference.

The Fish Bucket triggers Bowhead Whale, and the defeated Bowhead body is then needed for the mutated phase. Keep these story objects and the optional Goblin Shark plan separate so one does not consume supplies reserved for the other.

Check a known creature in Fishipedia

Patch 1.1.3 added a bait-name hint to Fishipedia after you have defeated a creature once. Use that hint when revisiting a known catch, especially if your installed version includes content beyond this reference pool.
