Follow the Volcano whale chain
Deadliest Catch is the military objective at the end of the story. Prepare through the Scientist’s five-fish request and the Bowhead Whale encounter, then keep the first whale’s body for the mutated form.
Do not interpret the military wording as a separate purchased boss lure. The regular whale and the mutated final encounter are consecutive parts of this route.
Keep the final hand-in in your plan
- Complete the Scientist’s bait request and defeat Bowhead Whale.
- Preserve the body, restock, and move it to the final trigger.
- Defeat Mutated Bowhead Whale and collect its distinctive trophy.
- Return to the Scientist for the ending hand-in and transport access.
- Continue through the departure sequence and check the completion state.
Distinguish combat credit from story completion
The official military achievement and finishing the game are separate objectives. If the health bar is gone but the ending has not started, look for the trophy, the remaining conversation and the offered transport rather than buying another optional boss lure.
An older player-recorded route describes a tail exchanged with the Scientist for RHIB keys. Follow the displayed item name and dialogue in your build; the important sequence is trophy, hand-in, transport.
