Leave the bait slot at the default setup
Shrimp is recorded under the Crab Fishing Rod’s default pool at the Lighthouse. You do not need a Hot Dog for this entry; Hot Dogs are associated with the other ordinary shell pair, Rock Crab and Lobster.
Brown Crab shares this setup. If it appears first, that alone is not evidence that you selected the wrong rod or need a more expensive bait.
Use the value difference carefully
At a recorded 5-coin base, Shrimp is worth 2 more than Brown Crab before modifiers. The table does not give catch probabilities, so that difference cannot establish an hourly earning rate.
Collect both default-pool entries before switching bait for the missing Hot Dog species. This gives a simple way to organize the opening checklist without mixing the two pools.
