Get the can from the keeper
The Empty Beer Can is the result of the opening Beer hand-in. Give a Beer to the Lighthouse Keeper and keep the can you receive. Its empty appearance does not make it disposable rubbish: it is the fishing trigger for the first story boss.
Prepare before attaching it
Use the Crab Fishing Rod for this encounter. Before the cast, choose open ground for the fight, equip the combat tool you intend to use and leave inventory room for the quest reward.
Spider Crab commits to a straight charge. Space to move sideways is more useful than a landing point crowded with loose items. In a group, agree on who will handle the trophy after the fight so it is not mixed into ordinary sale stock.
The shell is the next key item
Defeating the boss is only the middle of the departure sequence. Collect its quest shell and return that shell to the keeper for the Boat Keys. The high listed base value of the boss should not override the story hand-in.
Obtain the $10 Radar before sailing. The complete route is Beer, Empty Beer Can, Spider Crab, shell hand-in, then departure preparation; buying Hot Dogs or repeatedly catching starter crabs does not replace any of those quest steps.
If the expected boss does not appear
Check the physical setup first: the correct rod, the Empty Beer Can obtained from the keeper, and the current attached bait. The ordinary no-bait pool and the Hot Dog pool serve different creatures. Return to the keeper’s objective if the Beer exchange has not actually been completed.
